FAQ

We would love to answer any questions you may have regarding our services and would be happy to help with any needs you may have. Please don't hesitate to contact us if your questions are not answered below.

  • Do you accept Insurance?
Natural Physical Therapy treats many patients with varying health insurance plans. Our Doctor's of Phsycial Therapy are NYS Licensed out of network Physical Therapists, meaning we do not directly bill insurance companies for our services. Patients are responsible for payment for services the day of service. However we provide our patients with the required documents and instructions in order for them to submit for reimbursment independantly for our services. We will as a curtosy verify your out of network Physical Therapy benefits prior to your first visit which will give you a better understanding of what your financial responsibilities will be.
  • Why did you decide to go Out of Network with Insurance companies?
With the current healthcare structure, Physical Therapists who work in traditional insurance based orthopedic Physical Therapy clinics are required to see multipule patients during the same treatment session. We felt this was very restrictive to our ability to treat our patients with the quality of care that is deserved and required to properly benefit patients.
  • Do I need a Referral or Script to be treated?
New York State has a law called Direct Access which entitles you to be seen for Physical Therapy services WITHOUT a script or referral for 30 days or 10 visits (whichever comes sooner). If further care is warrented at that time your Doctor of Physical Therapy will be more then happy to assist in facilitating obtaining a script from your physician. A script or referral is NOT required for Wellenss or preventative services.
  • Where are you located?
We are located INSIDE Platinum Fitness located at 9450 Transit Rd, East Amherst NY 14051. When you come for your first Appointment please come inside and you will be directed appropriately.
  • How often will I need to come to Physical Therapy?
Due to our ability to treat patients 1 on 1 we are able to provide the required focused time for manual therapy and specific exercises each visit. This helps to provide for effective and efficent Physical Therapy results and usually requires less visits per week and duration of care in comparison to a traditional outpaitent orthopedic Physical therapy clinic. Care is unique to the severity of injury and needs of each patient. Typically patients are seen 1 time per week for 6-8 weeks. Each patients needs are unique and this will be discussed at the initial evaluation. Most people experience a change or significant difference within 3 to 5 treatments and we typically have work to do even once your pain and symptoms have subsided because our goal is to reverse any dysfunctional movement patterns that will help to avoid this issue from returning.
  • Do you take Medicare insurance?
Medicare follows strict guidelines that do NOT cover Out of Network Physical Therapy services. Natural Physical Therapy is unable to treat Medicare Patients for Physical therapy treatment. Natural Physical Therapy is however able to provide services to patients who hold Medicare insurance under the Wellness/Prevention program. For further information please don't hesitate to contact us.
  • What can I expect from my visit?
Regardless of your injury, pain or diagnosis, every patient is treated as a unique individual. We feel it is important to evaluate and treat the whole body, rather than just your painful body part. This is essential to find the source of your pain and limitations. You will be prescribed a specific plan of care that is designed to address the problems found to be responsible for your pain and symptoms with the main goal to help you return to an active lifestyle saftely and as fast as possible. Physcial Therapy is not a "quick fix" as it will work to reverse your source of pain and prevent future injury. Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will provide Manual treatments and specific exercises and your results will be most pronounced with full participation. Every patient is taught how to treat themselves at home using a personalized home exercise program including activity modification strategies and corrective exercises.
  • What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing. It will be important that your Doctor of Physical Therapy can access your injured body part and that you are able to move freely.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
It is requested that you provide 24 hrs notice if you need to cancel an appointment. If you are not able to cancel the appointment within 24 hrs then we will try to reschedule that visit within the same work week to avoid the cancellation fee. If you do not follow these guidelines you are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. We will take special circumstances into consideration.
  • What is the difference between a PT visit and a Wellness visit?
Wellness Visit: On your first visit your movement patterns, strength, flexibility and medical history will be assessed. These type of visits are focused on individuals who do not have pain or a current injury and want an individualized exercise routine created, as well as, being stretched out by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. A plan of care will be created from your first visit. Follow up visits will follow the plan of care including education, manual therapy, specific exercises tailored toward you and home exercise program. You could utilize these visits as an annual check up, monthly “tune-ups” or weekly visits to help maximize your health. Physical Therapy Visit: A complete evaluation of your injury or painful region and a 'whole body' assessment of dysfunction is completed at the initial visit. Your care will be initiated this visit with education on your injury/diagnosis, description of your plan of care and initiation of manual treatments, therapeutic exercises and a home exercise program. Follow up visits will follow the PT plan of care created at the Initial Evaluation. Any unanswered questions from previous appointments will be addressed. Each visit will include manual therapy, guided specific exercises, patient education and an update on your home exercise program. Physical Therapy visits focus on your personal goals of recovery
